Which is better for the environment: cans or pouches?

When comparing the environmental impact of cans vs. pouches, it’s important to know that the manufacturing of pouches takes 75% less energy than cans. Because the can is recyclable, it is commonly expected to be the greener way to go. This is simply not the case. Waste reduction actually causes the pouch to be more environmentally friendly. Despite the recyclability of cans, the pouch is so much lighter than cans that the total amount of waste ending up in landfills is much lower. Because of the light weight of the pouches, they also save in energy and carbon costs with regards to fuel (shipping), landfill and space saved.
